I love the idea that our creative work patiently waits for us rather than judging us for stepping away. As an artist, I've learned that there are seasons when the work flows and seasons when it quietly waits in the studio. The important thing is returning. Thanks for such an honest, compassionate reflection. ❤️

And thank you for being here and offering your support and insights! ❤️ “Season” is a word that’s been coming up a lot for me lately—isn’t it weird how that happens?—so I definitely connected with how you described your own artistic experience. ✨

Enjoy vacation. I hope you left Jeremy behind and managed to dismantle or evict whatever misplaced thread got in your head.

Thank you! Yes, I believe that storm has passed over the horizon for now, and I get the feeling that when it comes back around it won’t be quite as strong. ❤️✨

Oooh that’s beautiful! I really should study her work more. ❤️✨

I love the idea of giving your internal critic a name. Take that, Jeremy! I’m glad you went to the creative check in anyway. Its’a good reminder we really need our peeps to pull us out of a slump sometimes.

Thank you! Yes, I definitely love my creative community—the very people who get it when you name your inner critic and even draw them sometimes! 😅 ✨

Nice job!! Love all the details; indoor and outdoor— and creative ideas with some punchlines at the end. 😊👍 Enjoy your vacation! Going on a cruise? Road trip?

Thank you! ❤️ We’re headed to the beach for a few days, then relaxing the rest of the week at home. Should be just the recharge we need! 😁✨

I loved this. Sorry for your rain, I say as thunder (real) crashes over my own head. Storms are meant to be weathered, and that's just simply profound in a way. Have a superb (not perfect) vacation.

Thank you so much, and stay safe! ❤️ It was kind of serendipitous that we were having stormy weather at the same time I was having stormy emotions. I tried to write a poem about it, but it came out very angsty and emo. 🤣 The comic worked much better! ✨

Your comics are wonderful. A great outlet for many of us.

So glad you went to the creative check-in. It's like the gym; you don't want to go but (almost) always feel better after, even if it's just a little bit! And Peggy's expression is moving, I love it. You really captured the emotion in it.

Anna is a rock-star partner, noticing and looking out for you. I know that's what partners are supposed to do, but I like that you share that detail.🙂

Enjoy your vacation✨

Thank you! Anna really is amazing. ❤️ July is our wedding anniversary month, and as of this year we've now been married *half our lives*! 😁 One of these days I'll have to put more of our story in the comic.

The Peggy silhouette and face got me 😂 And yes, emotional storms don't need to be judged, just observed as they go through activation that eventually wears them out so they pass. It's hard though! 😂 Huge props to you for making such wonderful observations. Certainly a thing I need to remember sometimes. All the times.

Also, we haven't hung out in so long that I forget how funny you are? Haha "draw yourself dry."

Joshua Robinson's avatar

Well we are definitely going to have to fix that lack of hanging out thing, for sure! You don't even have to send a picture of yourself staring out a rain-streaked window with an overly dramatic, forlorn expression. 🥺🤣

Most weeks, I draw these the same day I post them, and sometimes (like today) I don't even know what I'm going to draw before I start. A fun side effect of such daring procrastination is that I don't get the chance to second guess myself and apply the self-conscious filter! 😅✨

Reading this comic, I love the silhouette of Peggy, and her facial expression is so well done, as if your's in the third panel especially. And then once I read the description--I'm glad you didn't let Jeremy stop you from joining us in the creative check-in! It was great to see you and I hope it made the storm feel a little less!

Thanks! I was trying something new in drawing the rain and wetness, and I’m pretty happy with it. And I’m glad I called in, too—the group was wonderful, warm, and welcoming, exactly what I needed. I so appreciate you hosting those monthly sessions! 😁❤️✨

This is beautiful and so relatable. Well done navigating through that storm and then turning into rich creative content! I hope your vacation is/was a soul-nourishing time. 💗💗

Thank you! ❤️ It was a very nice week off, relaxing and reinvigorating. Peggy and I are ready to jump back into the creative fray! ✨

Yes and yes! We weather the storms and wait for brighter days to follow. ❤️✨
